Finn den Hertog is a director, theatre maker and actor. He trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, graduating in 2007. He earned a practical directing training through the Young Vic and Royal National Theatre.
Alongside a number of premiers of plays by some of the country’s most exciting playwrights, his previous work crosses multiple disciplines and has included a collaboration between resident artists at Somerset House Studios; a series of “sonic theatre” podcasts recorded remotely during the pandemic and, most recently, Lighting The Dark a piece of folk-music storytelling with acclaimed musician and theatre maker Martin Green.
Recent theatre credits include The Enemy, Wednesday (National Theatre of Scotland); Wings Around Dundee (Dundee Rep); The Afflicted, The Hope River Girls (Groupwork); Square Go (Francesca Moody Productions; 59E59); Storytelling, Milkshake, Squash (Play Pie Pint); Earwig (Tron Theatre Company).
Finn is Co-Artistic Director of award-winning artist-led company Groupwork and has been Associate Artist with National Theatre of Scotland since 2022. He is a regular guest director and lecturer on the BA Acting program at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and for the Masters in Playwriting at University of Edinburgh.
