Zephyr Liddell is a designer based in Scotland.
Zephyr works with textiles for fashion and live performance using both traditional and digital techniques. Her work involves finding innovative ways to dress and fabricate with materials, making space for movement and decorating space, using a craft-based and design-focused practice.
Interested in how garments can be used to amplify narrative and create dialogue with movement, Zephyr uses Costume and Scenic Design to explore craft-making and materials. Her work can be seen in Every Map Has A Scaleby Joan Clevillé/Scottish Dance Theatre, Grin by Mele Broomes/Various Dance Artists, What My Body Can't Remember by Farah Saleh and for Bassline Circus amongst others. A member of 85A, a Glasgow based multi-media art collective that produced over 15 large scale installations and performances between 2010-2015, Zephyr gained her Masters of Fashion & Textiles from the Glasgow School of Art in 2018. Zephyr designs and fabricates for visual artists and has worked with Aniara Omann, Urara Tsuchiya, Robbie Thomson and Grace Ndiritu.
Notable works include; Jumbies, with Ashanti Harris & Patricia Panther, Glasgow International 2020 (postponed), SONIC SÉANCE, Various Dance Artists (V/DA), Take Me Somewhere 2019, COCKTAIL II, Nottingham Contemporary, 2013. Zephyr has been resident at; Cove Park, Fenton Art Trust Emerging Designer (2018) and UZ Arts, International Artist Residency (2018) and was the 2019 recipient of the Glasgow Life Arts & Craft Makers Award.
