Thomas trained in contemporary dance at Laban, London and continued training in improvisation and devising at the Centre Chorégraphique National in Montpellier, France. As a performer, he has worked with artists such as Hofesh Shechter, Ben Wright, Rosemary Lee, Charlotte Spencer, Yuval Pick and Charlie Morrissey. He has also worked on various projects with Luca Silvestrini's Protein since 2010.
Thomas has trained in somatic movement and complimentary trainings for the past 20 years. He has a continually evolving teaching practice influenced by Bartenieff Fundamentals, Body Weather, Tai Chi, and various philosophical and deep ecology practices. He enjoys developing and delivering movement workshops and classes for a variety of contexts such professional open class, company class for companies like Scottish Dance Theatre, or training workshops for institutions like Codarts and London School of contemporary Dance.
Thomas has held Rehearsal Director roles with Rosemary Lee Projects, Scottish Dance Theatre and with Chris Pavia (Stopgap Dance Company).
In 2017, Thomas founded and developed Kinship Workshop - an ongoing seasonal programme delivering residential and non-residential workshops that take participants into natural environments - using somatic and movement-based frameworks to reconsider and regenerate relationship to nature, landscape and other animals (www.kinshipworkshop.info).
