Lara Peres Rocha is an interdisciplinary performer and maker from Lisbon, Portugal. She attended vocational school Escola Artística António Arroio from age 15 and graduated with a diploma in photography (audiovisuals). During this time, she created photographic works which informed her artistic identity and movement practice. She went on to train at Northern School of Contemporary Dance, where she graduated with a Contemporary Dance BA (Hons) in 2023. She had the chance to develop her own research and the opportunity to work with artists such as Alethia Antonia, Saju Hari and Ben Wright. She also performed in works by Gonçalo Lobato and John-William Watson.
Lara moves through the world with a leading interest for people and what moves them. It is through making and performing that she experiences and makes sense of her own self in the world. She enjoys reading, print making, and joining a good roda de capoeira.
She is very excited to be joining Scottish Dance Theatre as an apprentice this season.
