Kirsty attended youth theatre from a very young age and was given opportunities within Horsecross in Perth to be a creative assistant. She then moved on to become a trainee director and eventually took classes herself. She studied at Dundee and Angus College during her time learning at Horsecross.
Kirsty was the first in Scotland to take part in Youth Theatre Arts Scotland's Young Arts Leader Program, receiving hands-on training with Scotland's top facilitators and Theatre companies. Over her 11-year career, she has worked with companies such as Curious Seed, National Theatre of Scotland, and Macrobert Arts.
Additionally, Kirsty has worked in support roles within mental health and also as a creative wellbeing worker in the third sector. She works with teens/young adults and adults, with all access abilities and capabilities. Kirsty is a strong believer that the arts should be accessible for all and can see the vast change that participating in Arts can have on someone's wellbeing and provide life changing skills, opportunities and a platform they may not have in their day to day lives. This passion can be seen within the classes and work that the participants create with Kirsty.
