Jamie Rea (he/him) is an interdisciplinary artist from Northern Ireland who has been based in Glasgow since 2015. A proud Deaf artist from a Deaf family, he is fluent in British Sign Language (BSL). Jamie was part of the inaugural cohort of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s BA Performance in BSL and English, graduating in 2018.
His practice spans performance, producing, theatre-making, presenting, production support, facilitation, consultancy, filmmaking, and co-writing. As a collaborative and creative practitioner, Jamie works across deaf and hearing communities, building inclusive artistic partnerships and contributing to a wide range of arts and cultural projects. He is particularly committed to developing leadership opportunities within the Deaf arts sector.
From 2023–2024, Jamie worked as Festival Assistant Producer for the Edinburgh Deaf Festival with Deaf Action. He currently works as a Producer with Deafinitely Theatre, supporting the company’s productions. And as Community Engagement Manager with Solar Bear until November 2025.
Jamie co-wrote and performed as 'Joe' in The Singer with Cora Bissett. The film was selected for the BFI London Film Festival in 2023 and will be presented at TravFest in August 2026. He also collaborated with artist Drew Taylor to create Stepping into Technicolour, an original theatre project supported through Solar Bear’s Make a Change Bursary (2024–25).
Through his varied artistic and producing work, Jamie continues to champion Deaf-led creativity, accessibility, and collaboration across the performing arts.
