Born in Barcelona, Carla Bonsoms i Barra has been connected to the performing arts field from an early age. Carla's family introduced her to dance when she was three years old; her mother was her first dance teacher. Since then, the performing arts have been her desired field in which she wants to thrive.
During her training in various dance styles in her hometown, she completed the Royal Academy of Dance exams. In 2009, she was accepted into the Conservatory Institut del Teatre in Barcelona and completed her studies in 2013.
Carla continued her journey by studying at Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam in August 2013. In her final year of education, she received a scholarship and had the opportunity to intern at Skånes Dansteater in Sweden, finishing her education and receiving her degree in 2017.
In 2018, she became part of the ensemble at TANZ Bielefeld in Germany, remaining there until 2024. Throughout that period, she worked under three different directors, beginning with Simone Sandroni, moving through under Sarah Deltandre and Gianni Cuccaro, and concluding with Felix Landerer.
While in Germany, she also developed her own projects and worked in collaboration with various institutions, traveling to Sweden, Spain, and Germany.
She began her journey as a freelancer in August 2024 and took part in multiple dance projects in Spain and Germany.
In January 2026, she began working with Scottish Dance Theatre.
From a young age, she has been involved in teaching, and she really enjoys exchanging this curiosity about movement through diverse levels.
Carla truly loves being in nature; she engages in different activities outdoors, particularly trekking and climbing.
