About The Revelations of Rab McVie
Join everyman Rab McVie as he travels through richly textured, ever changing landscapes of bloodshed and war - a story of light in darkness, and of hope in a torn world.
Revelations of Rab McVie is an explosion of creative forces that brings together live painting, live music, spoken word and theatre. It debuted for two sold out nights at the Traverse Theatre, and the wildly enthusiastic 5 star reviews – “unique” “extraordinary” “bat-sh*t crazy” – and audience response led to two showcase performances at Edinburgh Fringe on the big stage of the Pleasance Grand.
Driven by darkly atmospheric alt-rock music from The Filthy Tongues (led by Martin Metcalfe with musicians including Fin Wilson and Derek Kelly from Goodbye Mr Mackenzie/Angelfish) with fantastically colourful, evocative, ever evolving, projected paintings by artist Maria Rud (The AniMotion Show) and a spellbinding physical performance by one of Scotland’s most engrossing actors Tam Dean Burn (National Theatre, River City).
Created by Martin Metcalfe and Maria Rud, in collaboration with award winning theatre director Maria Pattinson, Revelations of Rab McVie is one of the most unusual, wildly immersive and mesmerising things you will see on stage this (or any) year!
