About Blue Rose Code
Following a remarkable run of performances over the past two years — including headline appearances at Cambridge Folk Festival and Gate To Southwell and a sold-out show for Celtic Connections at Glasgow’s Pavilion Theatre — Wilson now returns to the road with a series of intimate solo and duo performances across the UK.
These stripped-back shows find Wilson reconnecting with the roots of his songwriting, presenting Blue Rose Code songs in their most personal form while continuing to develop material for a forthcoming studio album.
Over the past decade, Wilson has built a reputation as one of the most compelling live performers on the UK roots and folk circuit. His music draws from Scottish folk traditions, soul, jazz and singer-songwriter storytelling, earning praise for its emotional honesty and powerful live delivery.
Collaborations have seen him work with the likes of Karine Polwart, Beth Nielsen Chapman, and write for Steve Knightley, while sharing stages with artists including Van Morrison, Deacon Blue and The Proclaimers.
Whether performing with his full Caledonian Soul band or in more intimate settings, Blue Rose Code shows are known for their warmth, spontaneity and deeply felt connection with audiences.
Jubilant, prayerful, compassionate, Caledonian soul maestro Ross Wilson’s latest iteration of his Blue Rose Code band sees his songs bursting with heart

A set of almost religious intensity and sincerity. Wilson makes widescreen soul in the spirit of Van Morrison, and was full of the holy fire of live performance
– The Times 2022
Ravishingly beautiful, a burnished blaze of Caledonian Soul, muted jazz and poetic recitation
– UNCUT 2023
An expert ensemble, led by Edinburgh singer-songwriter Ross Wilson, brought the spontaneity and informality of an after-hours pub session to the Pavilion Theatre. The effect was both stirring and meditative
