On Pregnancy & Infant Loss Remembrance Day, we invite you to gather for an intimate evening of movement, reflection and connection.

Scottish Dance Theatre company member and choreographer Pauline Torzuoli shares Beside a Curve, a tender short dance film created in collaboration with videographer Tao-Anas Le Thanh.

The work was born of a fascination with the beauty that emanates from the delicate coexistence of destruction and creation within the dance of the womb. Giving an artistic frame to see the inseverable nature of creating life and facing loss, and reflecting on the silence that surrounds these moments and the deep emotions they hold. Through dance and film, Beside a Curve honours life’s fragility and resilience, showing how beauty and strength can be found in the experience of loss as the in experience of life.

The evening will include a live performance excerpt, a film screening and a conversation with the artists, before closing gently with tea, soup and time together.

Through this piece, I want to create a space where destruction and creation within the womb are placed together and can be seen in their natural and complex proximity. And through art, honour the beauty and strength that emanate from this symbiotic dance.” – Pauline Torzuoli
