I am an actor and writer from Glasgow. Since graduating from the BA Acting course at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2022, I have performed with companies including Òran Mór, Dogstar Theatre Company and Finborough Theatre. Alongside acting, I have been developing my skills as a writer and creative.
I am the co-founder of I’ll Scratch Yours, a perpetually sold-out scratch night in Glasgow dedicated to new writing. Through this platform I have rigorously tested my own material in front of live audiences, developing a strong instinct for structure, pacing and what makes a ten minute piece land. Programming and observing a wide range of short-form work has given me a clear understanding of the format and what audiences respond to.
As a writer, I am deeply influenced by stand-up comedy and its precision. How joke-writing can carry complex political and emotional ideas in a theatrically dynamic way. My work often interrogates contemporary gender politics and the growing polarisation between men and women. I am particularly interested in challenging social norms and interrogating a kind of slogan feminism that can feel performative. In my play A Peg or Two, for example, I examine the phrase “strong woman” and question how language can dilute the very ideology it seeks to champion.
I have participated in several new writing developments, most recently at Mull Theatre on the verbatim project Empty Chair, directed by Ben Standish. I am currently directing Playback by Euan Munro, following a successful Creative Scotland-funded R&D, we were chosen to share an extract of the play for Outside Eyes at the Tron Theatre and Summerhall Surgeries. Across all my work, I pursue truth and engaging theatrical storytelling.
