Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified, HCPC registered Dramatherapist to establish and deliver the brand new, pioneering Family Dramatherapy Service at Dundee Rep and Scottish Dance Theatre, with new funding support from Dundee City Council’s Whole Family Wellbeing Fund through the Scottish Government. 

The post holder will need to be self-administering and will be required to operationally manage the service, delivering bespoke creative therapy interventions for families with complex and varied needs, assessed on a case-by-case basis and in partnership with referral partners and other involved organisations. They will also be responsible for ensuring that work is properly risk-assessed and that safe-systems are observed. 

Due to the nature of this work and the client group, the post holder will be required to offer sessions outwith usual working hours and in community settings accessible to the families. 

The Dramatherapy Service at the Rep has gained an impressive reputation locally, nationally and internationally; the post holder will be expected to represent the service and to be an advocate for the work. As an operational manager of the service, the ability to establish good working relationships with key contacts is essential. 

The post sits within in the Engage team at Dundee Rep and Scottish Dance Theatre, who work to engage with communities across the city and design innovative creative strategies to support connection, participation and positive health and wellbeing. An understanding of the nature and the ethos of engagement and participation practice and an ability to work as part of a team are vital elements of the job.
